• What is Mobile Banking?
Mobile Banking is a new innovative service offered by SBM,Orange and Emtel to give customers access to their current or savings account held with SBM through their mobile phone
• How does it work?
You need to register with SBM to use the service. We need your mobile number and a default account number (one current or savings account that you hold with SBM).
You will be informed through an SMS of your successful registration.
Once registered several options are available to you as follows: -
Step 1 Go to “Write Message” on your mobile.
Step 2 To check:
o Your balance on your account(s)
Type sbm bal and send to 8727.
o Your last five transactions on your default account
Type sbm trx and send to 8727.
o Your last five transactions on your account (no. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx) other than your default account.
Type sbm trx xxxxxxxxxxxxxx and send to 8727.
• Why should I apply for Mobile Banking?
No need to queue up in an SBM Service Unit or near an ATM to check your account balance now. An sms is all you need to check:
• Your account(s) balance
• Your last 5 transactions
Through our SMS Notification Service you will also receive a free SMS on a daily basis each time your account(s) balance change(s) (e.g. when your salary is credited, your standing order has passed, your account has been debited to pay your loan etc).
• Am I eligible for Mobile Banking?
You are eligible if you hold a current or savings account with SBM and you have a Orange or Emtel Mobile Phone (either prepaid or postpaid).
• How much do I pay for using Mobile Banking?
You will be charged Re 1.00 (excl.VAT) for a post-paid mobile phone or Rs1.20 (excl. VAT) for a prepaid mobile phone, per SMS sent.
• How do I apply for Mobile Banking?
Simply complete the Mobile Banking registration form online. Our Service Unit staff will call you back so that you can drop in to sign the form.
• How do I know when I can start using the service?
Once successfully registered, you will receive a free SMS notifying that you have been registered.
• Can I access all my accounts?
You can access any savings or current account you hold with SBM.
• Can I use the service when I’m overseas?
Yes, provided that Orange’s or Emtel's roaming service is enabled on your mobile.
• What should I do if I have misplaced or lost my mobile phone?
You need to inform the Bank immediately so that the service can be deactivated within a reasonable time frame.
• What should I do if I’ve changed my mobile phone number?
Drop in our nearest Service Unit to fill in a Mobile Banking change request form. |
